Jan. 9th, 2009 10:27 ami am so upset right now. i have been having a very difficult time financially lately. i'm trying my best to pay off debt, instead of accrue more because once i stop working rob is going to be paying all my bills and obviously the less i have the better. december was a very bad month for me because of spending money on christmas presents so i wasn't able to pay rent at all. this month i promised rob i would pay him $400 rent from my first pay check along with $80 for my car battery that he replaced for me a few weeks ago out of my first pay check (which was today). so i went to bank of america this morning to make the transfer and it said my paycheck was only for a little over $500. i freaked out and went to kronos (which is how we do time cards at work) and it said i hadn't been payed for the 4 days of vacation i took at christmas. i tried to stay calm and went to talk to a hr/payroll person. she told me that you can't start using vacation time until you have been with the company for 6 months, and that even though i was with the company before, as a rehire i am not elligle to use my vacation time until april.
i told her i had been obviously unaware of this situation and that kronos has listed vacation time as available to me which is why i had requested and my boss damion had approved it. she called the person who was listed as the person who removed the vacation time from me and asked her what happened and she said it had been a mistake that my vacation time was still listed from when i worked here before.
so this is obviously THEIR fault for fucking up and leaving my time available but they said that "they go over that at orientation." i told them i went to orientation five years ago when i was first hired and they said thats all they legally have to tell me and that its in the employee handbook so i should have known the policy. i think that is fucked up and INSANE. i looked through the employee handbook online and its very unclear.
i obviously wouldn't have taken 4 days off if i had known they would be unpaid. now i am totally fucked. well, rob will let me not pay him and i'll be okay, but if i wasn't with rob and had to pay rent to a landlord i would be fucked and my company wouldn't care. i want to file a complaint but i don't know how. i'm so upset that i'm scared if i try to talk to anyone about this i won't be able to stop crying and it will make me look bad. i don't know what to do.
